Micro-needling uses a hand held Microneedle roller with super fine needles used to promote the production of collagen and improve the early signs of aging, scars, and stretch marks. Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), skin, derma or meso rolling, skin needling or Percutaneous Collagen Induction (PC). Microneedling is performed by Dr. Pistone for patients in our Marlton, NJ office, to safely treat the surface of the skin to create younger-looking, tighter, supple skin.
What is a Microneedling treatment?
Micro-needling uses a special electric skin needling device made especially for this purpose. The device is shaped like a pen and uses very fine needles to break down unwanted scar tissue and is ultimately used to create healthy, fresh looking skin by stimulating the proliferation of new skin cells. As the skin responds to treatment, it effectively reduces the appearance of scars, fine lines, wrinkles, loose, lax skin, and pore size and improves skin texture, scars, acne scars, and stretch marks.
Who are the best candidates for Microneedling?
We perform Microneedling in our office to treat all skin types and skin colors. It can be used to treat multiple areas of the body, including the eyes, neck, arms, legs, and the back of your hands. Prior to treatment, we may apply a numbing cream to the treatment area.
What can I expect after my Microneedling procedure?
After your procedure, most patients experience mild swelling and redness (similar to a sunburn) which fades significantly but may last between 24-48 hours. There may also be minimal bruising and/or bleeding. In 1-2 weeks patients notice smoother skin with a youthful glow. Multiple treatments are recommended and the best results are seen over time. Microneedling can be performed every 4-6 weeks until you reach your desired results. After treatment, be sure to avoid exposure to the sun. We will advise you on the proper care for your skin after and between treatments.
